India secured its 15th gold medal at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023, after Nimisha Suresh secured a podium finish at the women's T47 long jump event in Hangzhou, China, on Wednesday.

India secured its 15th gold medal at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023, after Nimisha Suresh secured a podium finish at the women's T47 long jump event in Hangzhou, China, on Wednesday. Nimisha Suresh Chakkangulparambil won the gold medal with a best jump of 5.15 mts in the event. Meanwhile, India's Keerti Chauhan came 4th at the same event after creating a jump of 4.42 mts. With this effort, India's medals tally at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games stands at 63 now.

On Monday, Praveen Kumar clinched the gold medal for India with an impressive jump of 2.02 mts, securing the top position in the men's high jump T46 final at the Asian Para Games 2023. Meanwhile, Unni Renu earned a well-deserved bronze medal in the same event leaping to a height of 1.95 mts.

India's performance at the Asian Para Games 2023 has been exceptional, with the country's best-ever performance being the 72 medals achieved in the 2018 edition held in Indonesia.

The Asian Para Games 2023 will continue until October 28.
