Anju Bobby George quits as Kerala Sports Council president

Synopsis

Former long-jumper Anju Bobby George, who had accused Kerala sports minister EP Jayarajan of harassment, is likely to step down as Kerala Sports Council president.

Along with Bobby George, other prominent sports council members, including volleyball player Tom Joseph, are also likely to abdicate their posts.

Anju had earlier written to E.P. Jayarajan demanding a thorough probe into the internal activities of the Kerala Sports Council.

Appointed by the Oommen Chandy government as president of the Council last year, Anju was allegedly subjected to rude and boorish behaviour from the sports minister Jayarajan, who accused her of fostering corruption within the body.
