In a shocking incident, tenth standard students of Kattakkada in Kerala capital were allegedly subjected to brutal torture and harassment by a   teacher for giggling at a lady teacher. One of the students was admitted to a government hospital following the incident.

A teacher of Poovachal Vocational Higher Secondary School allegedly directed the students to write their examination by standing in the sun on Wednesday as a punishment for failing to come in uniform. While the students were standing outside, their class teacher reached the spot and they reportedly giggled at her.  In a fit of rage, a male teacher thrashed and kicked one among them, the students complained. The student fell on to a two-wheeler parked nearby, but the teacher kicked him again and again, the complainants told the ChildLine.

Students took the victim to a primary health centre in the area and were referred to Govt. General Hospital for treatment. The ChildLine has initiated an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile,  the Principal-in-charge of the school refuted allegations of beating up the students. There was an altercation between students and the teacher, but no student was physically attacked, he said.
