SC modifies Cauvery order, but little solace for Karnataka

The Supreme Court today modified its order and asked Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu till September 20. It also rejected Karnataka's plea that the earlier order, asking it to release 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day, be kept in abeyance.

Not only that, the Court expressed anguish over "tone and tenor" of Karnataka's plea and said law and order problems can't be grounds for not complying with its order.
