Car crash claims three more lives in Kannur

On Friday, Kannur woke up to another tragic road mishap that claimed three lives including a child. It is the second consecutive day that the northern district of Kerala is witnessing a similar accident that snuffed out three lives.
In a fatal car crash at Puthiyatheru near Valapattanam in the wee hours of Friday, two men were killed on the spot and a five-year-old girl succumbed to injuries later. The deceased are identified as Alfred Elvis, 45, C D Johny, 48 and Catherine, 5. The accident occurred when their car collided head-on with a truck. Johny and Alfred, who were in the front seats, died on the spot. Catherine, daughter of Johny, succumbed to injuries at a hospital later. Catherine's mother Priya and her elder sister Christina are under treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.
The front portion of the car got badly damaged in the crash and passengers had to be pulled out by cutting the vehicle.
The fatal accident took place within hours after three students who were on a picnic to Coorg were crushed to death near Iritty in Kannur in a road mishap on Thursday.
