Protesting employees of KSRTC and BMTC leave buses vandalised

Synopsis

The dawn-to-dusk bandh left the state paralysed with the state run buses staying off the roads leaving several commuters stranded through the day.

 

According to reports, KSRTC employees across the state have been vandalising buses that were seen on the roads in spite of them calling for a state-wide bandh. So far around 92 buses have been damaged including 49 KSRTC and 4 BMTC buses, amounting to a damage of ₹8, 97,300.

 

Protesting employees were seen pelting stones at a bus carrying Dharmasthala pilgrims at Hassan layout. Soon after which the police detained two of the protesters.

 

Similar incident shook the commuters across the state as more than one lakh employees of KSRTC and BMTC have launched an indefinite strike against the government demanding salary hike.The employees are demanding for a 35 per cent hike in salary, however the government has agreed only for a 10 per cent hike.
