No power regulation in Kerala, says electricity minister

Synopsis

Kerala's electricity minister Kadakampally Surendran has announced that the government will not implement power regulation in the state immediately.

"Though energy consumption in the state increased steeply during the summer season, the state government did not enforce power regulation even though electricity consumption in the state increased by 40% during summer. This year, the state received a good amount of summer rain, especially in the dam areas. Hence, power production will not be disrupted," the minister said.

The announcement came in the midst of anxiety on power regulation.
