War cry on hold, Pawan Kalyan holes up to write book

Synopsis

At a time when everybody was waiting with bated breath for the announcement of Pawan Kalyan's the three-phase programme, the Jan Sena leader has decided to shut himself up and write a book instead. The decision could have been prompted by the fact that AP received a special package but a special status will not happen in a hurry

“Don’t disturb power star Pawan Kalyan. The Jana Sena president has just started preparing his war manual,” could be the message of the press note issued by Jana Sena party on Monday evening.

Kalyan’s party announced publicly that the Jana Sena president had settled down to write a book I, We and the People. The book, according to the press note, carries a fashionable tagline like Telugu movies: “War for Change”. They supplied a portrait of the actor-turned-politician in action as well.

The press note was sent to the media at a time when everybody was waiting with bated breath for the announcement of the three-phase programme as disclosed at Tirupati in the first week of September.

His Kakinada meeting on September 9 had produced more sound than light, not the specific battle schedule.

Now, the message is clear that there would be no agitation in the near future as he is busy in writing his next thesis on political battle.

This is Pawan’s second book, the first being Ism released exactly a year ago.

Ism was about the ‘ideology’ of Pawan Kalyan. The 145-page and 12-chapter book was written in association with his ideologue Raju Ravijej and it read like a chapter on patriotism in sixth standard state syllabus textbooks.

The book, now fully forgotten, talks about patriotism, selfless service, unwanted leader-worship, and the need to maintain balance with nature, among other things.

In Ism’s prologue, Pawan says, "Samajaniki seva chese alochana undali thappa, swardha sankuchitha bhavalu kani vaste samajaniki theevramaina haani jarugutundi. Atlanti vaati valla konni samvatsarala varaku ee samajam baagu pade avakasam undadu," which roughly reads in English as “If one possesses selfish and narrow-minded thoughts, instead of thinking of serving society, he would greatly harm society. That type of things won’t do any good to society for years.

Today's press note reads like this:

Nenu - Manam - Janam (Fighting For the Change!).
This is Jana Sena's ideology

“ To propagate the Jana Sena's ideology and take its philosophies to the public, the party President Shri Pawan Kalyan is penning a book titled
Nenu - Manam - Janam (Marpu Kosam Yuddham).

“This book would reflect everything from what initiated him to launch the party, which incidents compelled him to work for the people, what his plan of action, and the aim he is striving for. This would be different from earlier book published. Unlike his earlier book "Ism", the writings will be lucid, to the point and in simpler terms, so that even common man can read and understand it. The Jana Sena party is planning to bring out the book in the first half of 2017,” the press note elaborated on the style of the book.”

It is clear that the Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan has put on hold his proposed three-phase agitation programme that he launched to mount pressure on the Centre to get special category status accorded to Andhra Pradesh.

This happened even though Centre had summarily rejected the demand for special category status in unequivocal terms.

The Centre has also announced a colourless, tasteless and odourless special package which he himself described as a ‘rotten laddoo’.

However, instead of hitting the roads with his three-phase programme after the Centre’s package, Pawan has chosen settle down to write a book, effectively rolling back his ‘war cry’.

Is it really an innocent act of book writing at the time of alleged betrayal by the Centre (in his own words) or his inability to take on BJP, which now has the full backing of his friend and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu?

The problem with Pawan is that the revolutionary sound and fury he makes on stage never matches up to his actions on the field.
