No buses to Tamil Nadu, water supply unit locked in Mysuru

Synopsis

 

Farmers protesting the latest Supreme Court directed release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu have blocked roads in Mandya. Bus services to Tamil Nadu and beyond are available only till Ramanagar and Channapatna. No buses are being allowed to travel beyond this.

 

Meanwhile, in another protest related to the Cauvery water issue, more than 50 farmers have locked the pump house at Megalapura, stalling drinking water supply in the region.

 

Megalapura is a village in Malavalli, near Mysuru City, whose pump house provides water to some villages in and around Mysuru.

 

No KSRTC buses were moving from Satellite bus stands to Mysuru and Mandya. Protests have intensified at Mandya, Srirangapatna, KRS, Maddur, Malavalli and surrounding taluks.

 

Additional police security have been deployed at Gorur Reservoir in Hassan. Two Deputy Sub-inspectors, two circle inspectors, eight sub-inspectors and hundreds of police personnel are on guard at the reservoir.
