Karnataka: Gau rakshak sends threat letter to ex-minister Lalitha Naik

Synopsis

Sunil Sharma has sent a letter to Lalitha Naik’s Sanjaynagar address, stating that he will kill her if she continued to support the anti-cow slaughter bill. Naik said she would file a complaint with the police in this regard.

The accused, who hails from Udupi, has threatened Lalitha Naik following her opposition to the incidents of the violence and brutality in the name of the 'holy cow'.

“I have received similar letters and phone calls. But so far, I had not made it public. I am not scared by their threatening. Since my well-wishers are forcing me to take precautionary measures, I will file a complaint,” Naik said

Besides, she also said that later, not filing a complaint should not be a reason for not taking action against those who threaten her.

In July, she had made a statement on gau rakshaks in a programme held in Chikkamagaluru. In her speech, she had stated that the cow was not a mother as we treat it as a commercial commodity. If you actually consider her as a mother, Naik had said, you should not sell the milk too as it is her breast milk.

This had triggered anger among gau rakshaks.
