2 dead, 15 injured in Jayalalithaa election rally

Synopsis

Two AIADMK workers were killed and 15 were injured in a stampede during an election rally addressed by Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa in Virudachalam, 230 km from Chennai.

According to reports, the injured were made to lie down on the ground in scorching heat, instead of being taken to hospital. Two AIADMK workers were pronounced 'brought dead.' 

The condition of six women is said to be critical and they have been kept under observation in ICU. 

Local reports said that AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa has announced a compensation to the family of the deceased.
