Diesel engine derails at Erode railway station

Synopsis

A diesel engine derailed at the Erode railway station It damaged a sleeper rod after which no train services operated on second, third and fourth platforms  

A diesel engine derailed this morning at the Erode railway station. According to the officials, the engine was being operated for hauling coaches of the Tiruchirappalli-bound passenger train and it derailed while entering the fourth platform at 7.35 AM. Railway officials said the engine was put back on tracks after two hours.

 

 

A sleeper rod was damaged following which no train services operated on second, third and fourth platforms for more than three hours. Janshatabdi express coming from Coimbatore to Mayiladuthurai, the Chennai-bound Westcoast express and the Mangalore bound express besides some passenger trains were also delayed for more than three hours.
    

 

Railway officials said by noon all trains would be operating in the four platforms in Erode Railway station.
