Darshan need not vacate his house: Law Minister Jayachandra

Synopsis

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has razed 141 houses in the city so far, despite most homeowners possessing proper records and certificates.

However, now the BBMP seems hesitant to demolish Challenging Star Darshan’s house.

Despite allegations that Darshan’s house at Ideal Home Township at Rajarajeshwarinagar was built on the stormwater drains, the government feels his house can be spared - at least for now.

Speaking to the media at the Vidhana Soudha, Law Minister TB Jayachandra said that since Darshan has the necessary documents to prove his house was built legally, he does not have to vacate his house.

Jayachandra helpfully added that since the government had allowed Darshan to build the house, if there was any order to demolish his house, Darshan was likely to go to the court to bring stay on it.

Importantly, several homeowners who have lost their residences also had the proper documents and were also given the permission to build by the government itself.

But that did not stop the demolitions.
