Bengaluru woman raped at knifepoint in her own PG

Synopsis

In yet another gory incident, a Bengaluru IT employee was raped at knifepoint by an unidentified man. But what’s shocking, is that the incident took place at her own paying guest accommodation that is close to the Parappana Agrahara police station.

The 25-year-old victim who hails from Tamil Nadu has been staying at the PG accommodation for several months.

On Monday night when she was in her room, an unidentified man managed to enter her room and allegedly raped her at knife point before fleeing.  The woman later went to the police and lodged a complaint, sources in the Parappana Agrahara police station said.

V. S. Ugrappa, the Chairman of the Committee on Preventing Sexual Violence Against Women and Children and other members of the committee visited and examined the PG accommodation. The committee then gathered details about the incident and the survivor as well as visited Parappana Agrahara police station to make sure the FIR was filed.

“It’s a ghastly incident and it has raised questions about the safety and security of women living in such PG centres,” Ugrappa told the media.

A police official said that they have launched a manhunt to trace the accused. The investigation is still on.

The incident is the second such in the last few months.
