Bengaluru students use bomb threats to target professors

Synopsis

The arrest of two M.Tech students in Bengaluru has unravelled a bizarre revenge scheme against three professors

Bengaluru City Airport police have arrested two M. Tech students for sending threatening e-mails to Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), using Dawood Ibrahim's name to trigger a panic.

Based on the complaint filed by KIAL, the Airport Police tracked down Raghavendra S (26) and Hoysala (23), M.Tech students of East West College on Magadi Road.

The duo claimed to have been awarded low marks in internal assessments by three of their professors - Chandan Raj, Dhana Raj and Prasanna Raj.

Enraged by this assumption, the duo created a fake e-mail ID from the college computer lab and sent a threatening mail to the airport on March 22. The students had uploaded photographs of the three professors in the e-mail, apparently to implicate them in the deed.

The police first beefed up the security at KIAL and declared the March e-mail to be a hoax. But when the accused sent another e-mail on May 6, the police intensified their investigation and managed to track down the students.

The duo have been taken to a police station for further investigation.
