Bengaluru: Rains collapse Defence wall, seven vehicles damaged

Synopsis

 

The incessant rains also caused the collapse of the massive compound wall belonging to Defence establishment in Marathhalli.

 

As a result, more than seven vehicles, which were parked adjacent to the compound wall, were severely damaged.

 

A car, an auto rickshaw and several two-wheelers were damaged, as the huge compound wall came crashing down.

 

BBMP staff and Fire Force personnel are currently clearing the debris. 

 

 

Not just Marathahalli, but even some parts of HSR layout are also said to have been severely affected by the torrential downpour. Sector 2 of HSR layout had virtually become an island. 

 

Streets in Vysya Bank layout, near Bannerghatta, are also inundated, and nearby houses have become water-logged. 

 

Major drains in BTM layout are filled up to the brim with rainwater, and arterial roads have become water logged. Heavy downpour is reported in areas like Gottigere, Sarjapura, Parappana Agrahara, Bannerghatta, Jigani, Anekal, Chandapura, Electronic City, Hebbagodi.
