Newly elected chairpersons demand new cars from BBMP

Synopsis

At a time when Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is apparently facing a financial crunch, the newly elected standing chairpersons have allegedly demanded that they each get a new Innova

Bengaluru: At a time when BBMP is reportedly neck-deep in debt and are failing to source adequate funds from taxes, the BBMP's newly elected standing committee chairpersons have allegedly demanded that they each be provided with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) like Innova Crysta.

According to sources within the BBMP, standing committee chairpersons like Hoysalanagar Ward Corporator S Anand Kumar, Vigna Nagar Ward Corporator SG Nagaraj and Aishwarya BN from Binnypet among others have made these demands and have decided to desert their existing vehicles.

However, when we tried to contact the BBMP officials, Anand Kumar denied that he made any demands of SUVs. Aishwarya and Nagaraj were unavailable for comment.

BBMP Opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy criticised the corporators for making such claims and said ruling parties in the BBMP are only wasting taxpayer’s money.
