Aero India 2019: Aircraft take off in style on inaugural day

Bengaluru: Several thousand delegates, government planners, exhibitors, corporates and military brass from across the world were present on the inaugural day of the Aero show in Bengaluru. Aero India 2019 kicked-off in style at the Yelahanka Air Force station in Bengaluru on Wednesday.  

Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Aero show. Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy highlighted Bengaluru's presence in the design, research and production hub of the aerospace and defence in the country.

In memory and honour of Wing Commander Sahil Gandhi, who lost his life in a crash trying to do a mirror image, HAL-built aircraft Surya Kiran will be flying in the missing man formation. Three planes will fly with the right position of the team leader kept empty signalling the loss of their comrade.
