Emirates, the parent company of Dubai-based aircraft carrier, announced on Wednesday that it is advancing its digital transformation by partnering with cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement sets the stage for integrating Crypto.com Pay into Emirates’ payment systems, with implementation expected to begin in 2026.
Bitcoin’s price gained 0.4% in the last 24 hours, trading at $109,418.
Through this collaboration, the companies aim to deliver a secure and compliant crypto payment solution for Emirates’ global customer base.
The partnership supports Dubai’s broader strategy to establish itself as a global hub for blockchain and digital asset innovation.
The city's crypto-friendly regulations have already drawn a wide range of initiatives, with industries from real estate to telecommunications embracing crypto payments.
According to a Reuters report, Dubai established the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) in 2022 to oversee the growing digital asset industry. Since then, over 650 cryptocurrency companies have set up operations in the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).
Beyond technical integration, Emirates and Crypto.com plan to launch joint marketing efforts aimed at boosting awareness and promoting the use of cryptocurrency among travelers.
These campaigns are expected to highlight ease of use and security, potentially transforming how Emirates customers pay for their bookings in the future.
“Partnering with Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency into our digital payments system reflects Emirates’ commitment to meeting evolving customer preferences, in addition to tapping into younger, tech-savvy customer segments who prefer digital currencies,” said Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim.
