ORANGE YOU GLAD IT AINT YOU   
 


Where:  In a town called Ivrea in Italy.
Why: The people come together to celebrate Ivrea’s victory over a tyrant.
How:  Nine people make up a team, and compete against other teams. There are judges to determine the winner.
When: In February ever year. The carnival days where this food fight takes place is on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Where:  Galaxadi in Greece  
Why: To celebrate the first day of lent  according to the Greek Orthodox Church
When:  March
How: Much like the Indian festival of Holi, the Greeks come together and throw coloured flour at friends, family and others.

Where:   Port Lincoln, Australia
Why:  To celebrate the tuna industry
When:  February
How:  If you’ve got arms of steel, and can lift  8 – 10kgs of fish, then you can show off your arm strength by throwing the fish as far as possible in a Tuna Throwing Contest.

Why:  To herald spring
When:  February
How: Locals scatter beans to ward away evil. Roasted soya beans are traditionally used, and are thrown at family members and the entrance of the door.

Where:   Thailand
Why:  To wash away the evil spirits and cleanse before Thai New Year
When:  April
How: Called Songkran Festival, people get soaked with water.  Buddhists pour water over Buddha’s statues.
