Village intervenes to stop couple from procreating after 17th kid

Synopsis

Village stages intervention to stop a couple procreating They already had 17 children Couple wanted to have a second male heir

Like they say, “It takes a village to raise a child”. But perhaps in the same vein it also takes a village to stage an intervention.

And that’s exactly what happened.

In a tribal hamlet in Gujarat, a couple who were parents to 16 children already, were in the dogged pursuit, of a second male heir, had his hopes dashed.  According to Mashable,  “the villagers persuaded us to put a full stop to our family expansion," adding that, ““First, I wanted a son for our old age. After I fathered so many girls, I desperately wanted sons to look after my girls. But that didn’t happen.”
