What more can be said about Freddie Mercury that hasn’t been said already? He showcased a talent that only comes to the forefront once every generation or so. With his soaring vocals and his on-stage charisma, Freddie paved the way for Queen to rule the charts. It was 71 years ago today that Freddie Mercury was born. We’re using this occasion to look back at the career of one of the most iconic singers of all time and count down some of his most memorable songs.

Bohemian Rhapsody

Perhaps the most iconic and well-known songs from Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody still has people humming along today. The song’s accompanying music video is also equally iconic, having invented the music video years before MTV even existed.

Another One Bites The Dust

No band can get you pumped up like that of Queen. While ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ was written by Queen bass player, John Deacon, it featured one of the most memorable performances by Freddie Mercury on lead vocals.

We Will Rock You

Another example of anthemic genius which Queen possessed is this song that’s still being sung everywhere, from football stadiums to campfire circles. All it takes is a *stomp stomp clap* and the crowds will be singing along in no time.

We Are The Champions

You can still hear echoes of this song throughout stadiums in the UK. As said earlier, nothing gets you pumped up like a Queen song. So, anytime you’re feeling down or demotivated, put this song on full blast and remember, if Freddie Mercury believes in you, then you can do it!

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

From one legend to another, this song was written by Freddie Mercury as a tribute to Elvis Presley. Mercury apparently wrote the song in just 10 minutes which truly summarises how talented this man was!

Freddie Mercury was a man with immense talent and charisma. Over the course of his life, he released music that filled the hearts of stadiums of people with warmth and happiness. Thank you for the music, Freddie Mercury, and happy birthday!
