
Work stresses are the norm, and it can get the better of you, if you allow it. However, there are simple ways to de-stress.
1. Take a break
When things get hot under the collar, it’s better to take a moment to regroup and rethink. Go for a short walk around your building, or walk up to the tea stall and clear your mind.
2. Breathe deeply:
It’s something that we do on autopilot. Yet, it is one of the most effective techniques to calm oneself down. In yoga, it’s called pranayama. It’s being mindful of how you breathe and become more conscious about it and breathe in the moment.
3. Snack healthy:
This is not an invitation to binge eat on your favourite junk food. Instead snack on healthy and energy-boosting snacks like nuts and fruits, and savour it.
4. Musically speaking:
Study shows that music, especially classical, is known to soothe and calm one’s nerves when one is stressed. Listening to music is said to release dopamine and makes one happy and less stressed.
5. Sleep better:
Get your 8-9 hours of sleep. When you have a good night’s sleep, you are refreshed the next day and can control your stress.

6. Stretch:
Nothing is more relaxing than a good old fashioned stretch. Stretching reduces anxiety and stress levels down.
7. Leave home early:
When you’re running late, you’re already stressed coupled with commute woe your day is off to a bad start. That’s why start your day 20 minutes in advance.
