Katayama Yumi deserves a medal for putting up with her husband’s Otou idiocy.
After becoming parents, her husband, went on epic sulk, for 20 long years.
His reason: He’d become upset and jealous of the attention she had showered on the kids.
Instead of talking about it with his wife, he chose another route – presumably to teach his wife a lesson. He ceased all communication with her except for the odd grunt.
While his wife continued to speak normally to him, he chose to give her the silent treatment, but would have conversations with his children.
His youngest son, decided to approach a TV show, to help his parents unite. Even his elder siblings couldn’t recall the last time they spoke.
The bizarre incident had a happy ending though. Otou said, "Somehow it's been a while since we talked. You were so concerned about the kids. Yumi up until now, you have endured a lot of hardship. I want you to know I'm grateful for everything,” a Mirror report stated.
