
Ingredients:
4 beetroots
2 cups milk
½ cup sugar
½ teaspoon elachi powder
5 teaspoon ghee
A handful of cashews, raisins and almonds
100 grams khova/koya
Method:
1. Wash the beetroot and grate it.
2. Put the pan on the stove, and add ghee to it.
3. Saute the cashew, dried raisins and almond in the ghee for a minute. Take it off the heat, and keep aside.
4. Then add the grated beetroot to the ghee, and continue to stir and fry for 5 minutes.
5. Add a cup of milk and the khova / koya. Stir in low flame for another 5 minutes
6. Then add sugar, elaichi powder and continue to fry for 2 minutes.
7. Add the remaining cup of milk slowly till the mixture becomes hardened (approx 3 minutes).
8. Take off the heat, and garnish it with cashew, raisins, and almonds.
9. Help yourself to a bowl of freshly-made beetroot halwa, and tuck in. You can either have it hot, or cold.
