If you believe in yourself then sky is the limit. This statement works for almost everybody across the globe. If you are finding it difficult to believe this, then here is a legendary example of it – Robert Marchand, a 105-year-old Frenchman inscribed his name in the history books. In the 105-plus age category, Marchand tirelessly covered 22.547 kms in one hour on a track near Paris.
Hundreds of Marchand’s fans cheered for him as he was riding round the velodrome at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, in yellow and blue riding gears and also the number 105 on his back.
The tiny old man told the reporters after finishing the race that he could have done better. Can you imagine a 105-year-old man saying things of this sort after he failed to break his own record of 26.927 kms in the 100-plus category, which Marchand had set when he was 102 years old back in 2014?
Marchand was born in 1911 in France and only took up cycling seriously when he was 67. When he was 100-years-old, Marchand set a record of covering 100 km in 4 hours, 17 minutes and 27 seconds.
