Supreme Court has issued notices to makers and producers of web series 'Mirzapur' and Amazon Prime Video based on a petition complaining about the negative portrayal of the district in Uttar Pradesh in the web series.

The Supreme Court has sought the response from OTT platform and series makers.Taking exception of Mirzapur's portrayal, the petitioner claimed that "the web series has shown every resident of Mirzapur as a goon, vagabond and adulterer. The said web series is filled with nudity, vulgarity and abusive language."Besides the petitioner has also sought the setting up of a pre-screening panel that will assess OTT content before they are released.
