WWE: Golberg calls out Roman Reigns for a potential match-up

Roman Reign is the reigning Universal Champion, having held the title for more than 100 days, while he has won the title for the second time and is a five-time world champion. Goldberg happens to be a four-time world champion, having won the Universal Championship twice.

In what could be considered a significant development in the upcoming rivalry for WWE’s current Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, he has been seemingly challenged by Hall of Famer, Goldberg. The two have never clashed against each other before. At the same time, the first time could be an explosive clash, considering the popularity and gravity of both the superstars in the company.

The two were supposed to clash for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36 this year. However, Reigns pulled out, citing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, and was replaced by Braun Strowman at the event, who eventually won the championship from Goldberg.

It was on WWE’s online talk show, The Bump, on Wednesday when Goldberg made a surprise appearance. Although he was in the show to promote his upcoming documentary, WWE Untold: Goldberg’s Streak, he was asked by host Kayla Braxton if he has any unfinished business in WWE.

“Oh, I would say that is one of the most mild understatements I have ever heard. He backed out on me at WrestleMania, he stole my move, God knows how long ago, and he continues to perform it at sub-par level. Let’s be perfectly honest, I’m the dude that delivers the spear and I don’t think that he understands what it’s like until I deliver it to him. So, Roman, it’s coming and I’m coming for you. I may be old, I may be grey, but I’m still Goldberg,” replied Goldberg.

Goldberg ended the show with his iconic catchphrase, “Who’s next? Roman’s next.” Goldberg’s decision to challenge Reigns is not just for the latter pulling out at WrestleMania, but for his current heated championship streak. Reigns tends to call himself the ‘Head of the Table’ and has been acting that he runs the show, and can do whatever he wants.

Meanwhile, after Goldberg issued the potential challenge to Reigns, the latter seemingly responded on Twitter by posting, “I never wait in line. I am the attraction and I choose who’s next. And, that’s Kevin Owens. #WWETLC #IslandOfRelevancy”. The comments come as Reigns to defend his Universal Championship against Kevin Owens at the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) in the stipulated match on December 20.
