Liverpool are the defending champions of the 2020-21 English Premier League, having won the title last season following a 30-year league title drought. Tottenham Hotspur currently lead the table, along with Liverpool on 24 points, having last won the league in 1960-61.

The English Premier League (EPL) has nearly winded up its Matchday 11, as the race for the title is still too early to be taken a call upon. Nonetheless, there has hardly been any change on the top, while the mid-table did have some shuffling. Consequently, we present a round-up of this matchday.

Tottenham-Liverpool in the race for the top: The race for the top spot looks to be intense right now, as defending champions Liverpool are in a battle with powerhouse, Tottenham Hotspur. Both the sides are coming off winning performances, as Tottenham tamed London rivals, Arsenal, 2-0 at home, while Liverpool dominated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at Anfield. Nonetheless, with a better goal difference, Spurs lead the table, while Jose Mourinho is looking to make the most of an impact in his second season at the club and hand them their third EPL title, as their last win came in 1960-61.

Arsenal face a severe threat to their campaign: Speaking of Spurs' city rivals, Arsenal have been in a woeful form this season. The loss to Tottenham has left them reeling at the 15th spot, just three places above the relegation zone. They can even drop to 16th by Monday night, provided Brighton and Hove Albion win their home tie against Southhampton. Undoubtedly, time is ticking for club manager Mikel Arteta, as any further loss could put them in serious trouble, while the Spaniard could be shown the door.

Chelsea-Leicester vie for top-four: In another exciting race for the top-four, former champions Chelsea and Leicester City seem to be fighting it out. Once again, both the teams are coming off winning performances this weekend. While Chelsea tamed promoted side Leeds United 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, Leicester edged past Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane. Furthermore, Chelsea's unbeaten run in their last 16 games across competitions is a serious warning sign for all the teams in the league.

Manchester in the race for top-five: Yes, you read that right. Both the clubs from Manchester are having a surprise season so far. While United have made a surprise return to the top-five phase, City have been the most unexpected one, as they are a spot below United, on sixth. Nonetheless, both the teams are coming off winning performances, with United taming West Ham United 3-1 in London, while City beat Fulham 2-0 at Etihad. The coming few weeks would be interesting to see how the two teams keep up with the momentum, with United being highly inconsistent for some time now.

Five more vying for European spot: Meanwhile, the race for the top five is relatively open until the 11th spot. Below City, clubs like West Ham, Southampton, Everton, Wolves and Crystal Palace are vying for the fifth spot, as anything to could change within the next couple of weeks, depending on some surprise losses of the teams above them.

Four teams in relegation fray: As for the rock bottom of the table, it is Sheffield, along with West Bromwich Albion and Burnley, who are in 20th, 19th and 18th spot of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Fulham is just a spot above the zone, as a loss in the next game could seem them going down to 19th, provided West Brom and Burnley win their respective clashes.
