Milkha Singh taken to hospital after testing COVID positive

Milkha Singh had contracted the novel coronavirus last week. Although he continues to be stable right now, he has been taken and admitted to a hospital as a precautionary measure. Currently, he is 88-year-old.

Legendary former Indian athlete and sprinter Milkha Singh was diagnosed with COVID-19 last week. Although he had been in isolation at home, he has been shifted to a hospital in Chandigarh for precaution.

“Mr Milkha Singh was admitted at Fortis Hospital, Mohali in the Intensive Care Unit on 24th May 2021 with COVID pneumonia. He is stable and presently on low flow oxygen and medical management,” said the hospital in a statement, reports IANS.

Earlier, IANS had reported that it was Milkha’s cook at home who had tested positive first. The cook had been working for Milkha for the past 50 years.

Meanwhile, ever since the pandemic, Milkha has urged everyone to maintain proper fitness and build immunity by doing regular exercise. “As a sportsman, I want to tell you with a humble request that you are staying indoors and for you, an exercise of 15-20 minutes is very necessary,” he had earlier told in a video message.
