Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi continues to be a modern-day great despite the way his club, Barcelona, performs. Having been playing for the Catalan since his childhood, hardly anyone can imagine Messi leaving Camp Nou.
However, Messi's future at Barca has been doubtful since last season, as he has been contemplating moving out of Camp Nou. Furthermore, with Barca failing to win regular titles, he wondered if he should sign a contract extension with the Catalan, as his current deal comes to an end at the end of the season.
While numerous reports give many predictions, besides linking Messi to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, he has seemingly made up his mind. According to renowned Reuters journalist Richard Martin, Spanish news channel TV3 has reported that Messi is willing to sign a contract extension with Barca.
Martin adds that Messi is willing to earn half of what he makes now at Camp Nou. However, the contract is set to be for a more extended period, making him earn precisely what he earns currently.
"Spanish national television saying Lionel Messi has told Barcelona he wants to stay. Yesterday Catalan network TV3 said the same, adding he is considering signing a contract on half the pay he is on now, but it will be extra long, meaning he will end up earning the same," Martin wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, former Barca coach and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has advised Messi to stay put with the Catalan. Also, Messi's former teammate at Camp Nou, Luis Suarez, had urged the former to continue where he is and live on his legacy.NOTE: Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitise, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible.
