WWE Superstars have had a challenging year in 2020, owing to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. However, some have been a part of it as any other regular year, as the pro-wrestling industry has seen some notable deaths, involving some popular active and former superstars.

The year of 2020 has gone haywire right from the start, all due to the fatal COVID-19 pandemic. Same has been the case for WWE Superstars, who have risked their lives and well-being to continue their deeds, and that is to entertain the viewers through their sublime wrestling skills.

However, there have been some wrestlers who, unlike any other regular year, have bid adieu to the world. On the same note, we take a look at five WWE Superstars who have breathed their last in 2020.

Shad Gaspard: The former WWE Superstar, who was a part of the famous tag team stable, Cryme Tyme, with JTG, is a real-life hero. In 2016, he had saved a gas station form being robbed, as he restrained the gunman until the cops arrived. WWE even honoured him for his good deed. However, it was in May this year when he was stuck in a strong rip current at the Venice Beach in California. While the coast guards came to his rescue, he urged them to save his son first, as he could not make it. He was aged 39.

Pat Patterson: He happens to be a glorified figure in WWE for having created the famous Royal Rumble match. He was also the first-ever superstar to win the Intercontinental Championship. He also became the oldest superstar to win a championship, having won the 247 Championship at the age of 78. He passed away at the same age this month.

Rocky Johnson: In case you are wondering, he is the father of former WWE Superstar, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. It was in 1983 when he rose to prominence, as he was the first black tag-team champion of WWE, along with his partner Tony Atlas. He also became the first black Georgia Heavyweight Champion. After retiring in 1991, he was inducted into the Hall of fame in 2008 by The Rock himself. He passed away at the age of 75 in January.

Kamala: He happened to be one of the renowned wrestlers in WWE owing to his Ugandan descent as was commonly referred to as "The Ugandan Giant". He had fought against popular superstars like Hulk Hogan, André the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior and The Undertaker. In the latter phase of his life, he faced several health complications, including diabetes, while he even tested positive for COVID, as he passed away at the age of 70, in August.

Road Warrior Animal: Another popular WWE Superstar, he was most famous for being the tag-team champion, with his partner Hawk, known as Road Warriors in WCW, while in WWE, it was Legion of Doom. The team even gained the support of the fans as a heel. It was in 2011 when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He passed away at the age of 60 in September.
