Manchester City edges past Chelsea
The two EPL giants clashed as City travelled to Stamford Bridge to take on third-placed Chelsea. As expected, the match turned out to be intense, with the visitor having the last laugh. Gabriel Jesus's 53rd-minute sole winner ensured the three points for City, as it climbed to the second spot.
Aston Villa stuns Manchester United
An in-form United struggled against eighth-placed Villa at Old Trafford. It was an unexpectedly close clash, with Villa dominating with possession and even threatening with promising attacks. It was Kortney Hause's 88th-minute lone header that sealed the fate of the game. Although the Red Devils had a chance to equalise through a penalty at the injury time, Bruno Fernandes fired it over the bar under pressure to hand the Villans the three points while the host dropped to the fourth spot.
Leicester City held by Burnley
Things don't seem to be going right for Leicester at the moment, as it hosted 19th-placed Burnley. What should have been an easy win turned out to be an extremely competitive clash. Jamie Vardy's own goal in the 12th minute handed Clarets the lead while he equalised in the 37th minute. However, Maxwel Cornet restored the visitor's lead in the 40th minute. Although Vardy's scored his brace in the 95th minute to bring Leicester back in the game, it had to settle for a point each, as the host remained in the 12th spot.
Liverpool held by Brentford
In another surprising encounter, Liverpool was the favourite, travelling to take on newly-promoted and ninth-placed Brentford. However, it too turned out to be unexpectedly contentious. Ethan Pinnock handed the host the lead in the 27th minute, followed by Diogo Jota's equaliser in the fourth minute. In the second half, Mohamed Salah gave The Reds the lead in the 54th minute, with Vitaly Janelt equalising nine minutes later. At the 67th minute, Curtis Jones restored the visitor's lead only for the host to level again in the 82nd minute via Yoane Wissa, as the former stays at the top.
