When Aishwarya Rai cried because of Sushmita Sen; actress reveals what happened in 1994

 Aishwarya Rai once revealed why she cried after losing the Miss India title to Sushmita Sen, and her answer will definitely win your heart.

Many years ago, in 1994, Sushmita Sen made India proud when she won the title of Miss Universe in the Philippines on May 21. She was 18-years-old back then. But did you know, in the Miss India contest where Aishwarya Rai also took part, there was a tie-breaker round for Sush and Aish.

Both Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai were jury's favourites, but Sen beat Rai with 0.2 points and became Miss India in 1994. In an interview, Aishwarya Rai once shared her experience and revealed that she cried after losing the title to Sushmita Sen.

Talking about her experience on stage during the final round in the Miss India contest, Aishwarya said, "It has been an excellent year for our country. That's what I felt on stage. Backstage, later we went into the top 10, next top five, we felt perfect for India."

The actress added that a few girls were already tearful. However, she was happy but later on the stage; she did cry. "Well, usually, girls cry, but I don't. Though I did later on stage when they made the announcement, it was such a touching time. I felt, 'India, we did it'." 

After Sushmita won the title, Aishwarya also talked about her, "We weren't expecting it as we already had a title this year. But the media did have their expectations. The Miss India contest was very narrow between Sush and me, and so they thought if she could get Miss Universe, I could bag Miss World. I expect it to be a wonderful year and I suppose, like Lisa, last year's winner, said, 'I would grow up a lot. It is a life within a life'."
