In a recent development in Raj Kundra's pornography case, the businessman has been granted interim protection from arrest by the Bombay High Court. The Court on Wednesday gave interim protection from arrest to the businessman in the first information report registered in 2020 by the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police in the concerned case.

Advocate Prashant Patil, appearing for Kundra, argued in the FIR that the co-accused was already out on bail. Hence the offence charged against Kundra were all punishable with less than seven years of imprisonment, and for this reason, the application ought to be allowed.

Additional Public Prosecutor Prajkta Shinde opposed the plea and submitted the role of the accused in the case was different than the other accused in the concerned case.

Shinde took some time to take more instructions on the application. Granting her time, Justice Sandeep K Shinde directed an interim order protecting Raj Kundra from arrest till the next hearing date, which is August 25, 2021.

He had filed the anticipatory bail plea in the HC last week in connection with the 2020 case after a court session rejected his application seeking pre-arrest bail. The FIR against Raj was registered in October 2020 by the Mumbai Police's cybercrime cell for alleged broadcasting of nude and erotic content on an OTT platform.
