Piku stars reunite again: Amitabh Bachchan joins Deepika Padukone in 'The Intern' remake

After the demise of late actor Rishi Kapoor, the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Intern’ has roped in Amitabh Bachchan for the role with Deepika Padukone. 

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is now a part of the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Intern’ and will be playing the role of Robert De Niro. Rishi Kapoor was the first choice for the film, but Big B came into the picture due to his sudden demise.

The film will also feature Deepika Padukone, who will play the role of Anne Hathaway. Taking to her social media handles, Deepika shared the movie's first look poster with her fans.

The poster has their names printed in bold, along with their silhouettes walking towards each other. Captioning the post, Deepika wrote, ‘What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again!💛 Welcoming @amitabhbachchan to the Indian adaptation of #TheIntern.’

This will be the second time Deepika and Amitabh will be coming together on screen. They have worked together earlier in Shoojit Sircar’s hit film Piku.

Apart from The Intern, Bachchan and Deepika will also be seen in Nag Ashwin’s untitled next, which stars Prabhas.“I feel lucky and blessed that Bachchan Sir has selected our film among the many choices he has... It is a full-length role, which we believe will do justice to the legend that he is,” an excited Director Nag Ashwin said.

The Intern was released in 2015, the story is of a 70-year-old widower Robert De Niro who becomes a senior intern at an online fashion website, where he forms an extraordinary friendship with the company's workaholic CEO Anne Hathaway.
