Yami Gautam married her best friend and URI director Aditya Dhar in a hush-hush ceremony with her closed ones in Himachal Pradesh in June. Their wedding took everyone by surprise when Yami and Aditya announced a joint social media statement about tying the knot in her home town Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh.
In an interview, Yami revealed that it was her grandmother's insistence that they decided to get married, and the plan initially was to get just engaged.
Talking to Film Companion, Yami revealed that her wedding was not planned at all. It was very impromptu and conducted most beautifully. "We were just supposed to get engaged, and then my Nani was like like, 'listen this engagement is not a part of our culture, so how about getting married?'"
She further added, then Aditya asked her, "Are you ready? Shall we do it?" Yami said that the wedding was a very simple and intimate affair. She did not want to have a DJ or loud music on her special day. She always wanted a simple wedding, and it was the wedding of her dreams.
