Lasith Malinga is not only famous for his deadly yorkers but also famous as IPL’s highest wicket-taker, with 170 wickets. However, Malinga has pulled out of this IPL owing to personal reasons. Mumbai Indians (MI) have suffered a huge blow and are looking for options.

Lasith Malinga is the first bowler who pops up first when the Mumbai Indians bowling attack is talked about. With his association with the team for such a long time, his immediate absence due to personal reasons is something for the team to worry about.

Despite the fact that they have the world’s number one and number two bowlers, Bumrah and Boult respectively, Malinga had his own share in the team.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, on Thursday, named three fast bowlers who could be potential performers to the Sri Lankan legend’s absence in IPL 2020.

“I don’t think it is easy to come and fill his boots. He has been a match-winner for Mumbai. I have said it many times, whenever we sort of find ourselves in trouble, Malinga was the one to bail us out from that. His experience will be missed, what he did with MI is unbelievable and it is unfortunate that he is not a part of the team this year” Rohit said in a pre-season online press conference.

“We have got likes – (James) Pattinson, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohsin (Khan) and these are the names that we are looking to replace Malinga with. But obviously, what Malinga did for Mumbai, it is not just comparable,” he added.
