IPL 2020: RCB players, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, guise up as Simranjeet Singh and Paritosh Pant

RCB honors the arduous support of the frontline Covid warriors in the raging pandemic. Under #MyCovidHeroes campaign, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers even renamed their social media handles and jerseys to Simranjeet Singh and Paritosh Pant, respectively, simply to acknowledge their unending support of these people. 

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has hogged the limelight time and again because of their aggressive #MyCovidHeroes campaign. Earlier this week, the franchise announced the inscribing of ‘My Covid Heroes’ on the players’ jerseys throughout the season, in order to extend their tribute to the frontline Covid warriors. Besides the team also committed to donating the proceeds from the auction of the jerseys that players wear during their first match of the season to GiveIndia Foundation.

Little did anyone imagine the teams senior players Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers announce their new guises ahead of their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dubai International Stadium on Monday.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers renamed their official Twitter handles to “Simranjeet Singh” and “Paritosh Pant”, respectively.

The profile picture of both the players features them wearing the RCB jersey with the name of COVID-19 warrior, which the duo will wear throughout the tournament.

"I salute Paritosh, who started 'Project Feeding from Far' with Pooja & fed meals to 2 needy during the lockdown. I wear his name on my back this season 2 appreciate their challenger spirit," De Villiers wrote on his social media post.

"Simranjeet Singh, a hearing-impaired, but that did not stop him from helping others in the pandemic. He approached people to raise donations for the poor suffering in the pandemic and many hearing-impaired individuals agreed. These individuals weren't from any particular organization and they selflessly donated funds. Simranjeet Singh, along with his friends, raised ₹98,000 to help people," RCB had said.

The gesture is part of Royal Challengers Bangalore's campaign to honor the people who are doing their selfless service amid the pandemic.
