IPL 2020: MS Dhoni’s 92-metre six goes out of Sharjah stadium; man takes ball home

Sharjah: A man walking on a pavement in Sharjah was lucky to take home a cricket ball smashed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni on Tuesday (September 22). Dhoni hit the ball out of the Sharjah Cricket Stadium during their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2020 and the ball landed on a street amid traffic. This happened in the final over of the contest which saw sixes raining.

The game saw a record 33 sixes being hit and Dhoni contributed three to the tally. The CSK captain smashed three sixes in a row off Tom Curran in the 20th over.

By the time Dhoni unleashed those big shots the 217-run target was beyond the reach of ‘men in yellow’. CSK lost by 16 runs.

Dhoni’s six off the fourth ball of the over travelled high and went out of the stadium. It was measured at 92 metres. Dhoni was 29 not out off 17 balls.

The cameraman followed the path of the ball and captured the moment when it landed on the street amid vehicles. A man was also caught on live TV as he was smiling and picked up the ball and walked away.

That person will remember this moment for the rest of his life. It is not often that you get to keep the ball smashed by Dhoni.
