This was Mumbai Indians' sixth win of the tournament this season in eight matches, as the rise back to the top spot of the table. As for Kolkata Knight Riders, this was their fourth loss of the season in the same number of matches as MI, while they stay in the fourth spot.

In what turned out to be one-sided domination, defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) came up with a fine performance to tame former champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Being played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, KKR were beaten by eight wickets, while MI reclaim the top spot. Meanwhile, here are the records that were scripted.

Eoin Morgan scripts a special one: Morgan was made a surprise captain of KKR for the season, earlier today. In the process, he has become only the second Englishman to lead a side in the IPL. The first happened to be Kevin Pietersen, who led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2009 and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2014. While he became the fifth captain for KKR to date, it was also the 12th instance of an IPL side changing captain mid-season.

MI seamers dominate at powerplay: In an interesting observation, the MI seamers have given their best during the powerplay this season. As they average 23.33, it happens to be the best by a side during the phase this season, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second, who have averaged 28.08.

KKR score an unwanted one: KKR could only manage 1485, despite Pat Cummins and Morgan's late blitz. In the process, the side has scored the second-lowest total of the season batting first. The list is led by SRH, who scored 1424 against KKR itself.

Quinton de Kock scores a personal best: De Kock was in a fine form tonight. As he played an unbeaten knock of 78, it was his third-highest score in the tournament to date. His best happens to be 108, while playing for DD, against RCB, in 2016.

Match summary: Electing to bat, KKR were off to a shaky start, losing their opening two wickets during the PP. Nonetheless, it was a late onslaught of unbeaten 39 and 53 from Morgan and Pat Cummins, respectively, that allowed KKR to post a below-par total of 1485, while Chahar claimed 218. In reply, MI openers were off to a flier, as Rohit Sharma (32) and Quinton de Kock's (78*) allowed MI to register an easy eight-wicket win.
