This was Rajasthan Royals' fourth win of the season, as they rise to the fifth spot in the points table. RR are yet to win the title since 2008. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings suffered their seventh loss of the season, as they once again slump to the bottom of the table.

There seemed to be no respite for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), as the former three-time champions suffered yet another embarrassing defeat to fellow former champions Rajasthan Royals (RR). RR won the tie comfortably by seven-wickets, in what was a low-scoring encounter, while CSK suffered their seventh loss of the season. Meanwhile, here are the records that were scripted.

MS Dhoni reaches a monumental milestone: Dhoni is one of the veterans in the tournament, ever since its inception in 2008. Tonight, it was Dhoni's 200th game in the IPL, as he has now become the first player to reach the landmark.

Dhoni-Jadeja dominate for CSK: Dhoni might have not had the best of the season yet. However, along with Ravindra Jadeja, he has dominated, as the pair has scored 193 runs in five innings, so far. As a result, they have become the second most dominant pair for the side this season, after Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson, who have scored 321 so far.

Jadeja scores a first in 11 years: Jadeja played a fine knock of an unbeaten 35. In the process, he has played a knock of 30-plus in three matches this season, which happens to be his first since 2009. Incidentally, he had only played 30-plus knocks on three occasions in the past six seasons (2014 and 2019).

CSK register an unwanted: CSK could only manage 1255 in 20 overs tonight. In the process, they have now scored the third-lowest runs in 20 overs of an IPL innings after losing five wickets or less. They also hold the record for the lowest (1144), against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2011.

Match summary: Winning the toss, CSK skipper Dhoni elected to bat first. However, they were off to a shaky beginning, while it was Jadeja's patient knock of 35 that allowed them to post a below-par total of 1255. In reply, RR, too, gave a shaky start, losing their opening three wickets in the powerplay itself. Nonetheless, the pair of skipper Steve Smith (20*) and Jos Buttler (62*) ensured that there were no more hiccups, as they achieved the target in 17.3 overs.
