India vs England 2020-21: Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin among big gainers in ICC Test Rankings

India has taken a 2-1 lead against England in the ongoing four-Test series for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. Furthermore, the third day-night Test saw the host utterly annihilate the visitor, courtesy of the spinners. Thanks to it, the Indians have now gained extensive in the ICC Test Rankings.

Team India is at a whole new level, having drubbed England within just two days during the third day-night Test in the Anthony de Mello. With this, India now leads 2-1 in the four-Test series and needs at least a draw to seal its place in the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

As for the third Test, most of the credit goes to the Indian spinners, whose quirky turns compelled England to crumble like a pile of cards. Owing to the same, it has allowed the Indians to gain big in the ICC Test Rankings.

According to the International Cricket Council's updated rankings, the batting department has witnessed a couple of changes following the third DN Test. Senior opener Rohit Sharma has jumped six places to the eighth spot, which happens to be his career-best to date. However, superior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has dropped a couple of places to tenth, while skipper Virat Kohli stays on fifth.

As for the bowlers, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who claimed his 400th wicket during the Test, has risen four places to the third spot, while pacer Jasprit Bumrah has dropped a place to ninth. Meanwhile, young spinner Axar Patel, who claimed 11 during the third DN Test, has elevated 30 places to the 38th spot.

Among the all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja maintains his spot on second, while Ashwin stays put at fifth.
