India and England are having an intense contest for the Anthony de Mello Trophy in a four-Test series. The series is locked 1-1 from the Chennai leg, while the Ahmedabad leg is off to a terrific start for India. Meanwhile, Day 1 of the third Test produced some records.

India managed to bundle out England for a mere 112, while India has edged closer to a lead. England scripts a lowestEngland's total of 112 was its fourth-lowest in the format against India, with its lowest being 101 at The Oval in 1971. It was also the second-lowest in India, with the most inferior being 102 in Mumbai, in 1979-80. Also, it is the second-lowest score in the opening innings of a Test in India by a visiting team, with the lowest being 106 by Bangladesh in the 2019 DN Test.

Indian spinners nail it in DN TestsAxar, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, nailed it with the spin. Together, they scalped nine wickets, which is the most by spinners in an innings of a DN Test. The previous record was Bishoo's 849.Ashwin betters yet another Indian recordAshwin scalped 326 in this innings. In the process, he has now bettered Zaheer Khan's record of most wickets across formats and has become the fourth-most wicket-taker in the same. While Ashwin has claimed 598, Zaheer had scalped 597. The record for the same is held by Anil Kumble (953).

England scripts a unique oneThe Test matches in India are played with SG deliveries, while England plays at home with Dukes, besides Kookaburra being used in the other nations. Meanwhile, England has become the first side to play the DN Test using all three balls.
