Virat Kohli is currently rated as the best batsman in the world, across formats. As of now, he is the number one batsman in One-Day Internationals, besides holding numerous records in the format. Currently, he is the second-highest run-scorer in the ODIs from India.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli might have had a tough year in international cricket as of now. Nonetheless, he has not backed out from scripting new records, as he completed his 12,000 runs in the One-Day Internationals (ODI).

Kohli attained the feat during the ongoing third ODI against Australia, at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, on Wednesday. Consequently, he scripted some records in the process.

Kohli has now become the fastest to reach the landmark, as he has done so in just 242 innings. He has gone past the previous record, held by Sachin Tendulkar, who did so in 300 innings, as Kohli's record looks unlikely to be broken anytime soon.

As he approaches his half-century, he has now the sixth-highest run-scorer in the format. Besides, he is the second-highest run-scorer from India, with Tendulkar being at the top, having scored 18,426, and is also the second Indian to enter the 12k club.

Also, he happens to have the best average, of 59.49, among the batsmen who have scored more than 5,000 ODI runs. He is also the only batsman to average more than 50 across formats at the same time.

India are currently just above 100 for the loss of a couple of wickets at the half-way mark of their innings. The visitors have already lost the series and would aim to avoid their second consecutive series whitewash, having already lost their previous ODI series 0-3 to New Zealand, earlier this year.
