Be it any sport, a team or an athlete's performance is highly applauded by all. While other factors are too taken into consideration at times, some wonder if the player's background is also a factor in sports. Sachin Tendulkar has opined on the same.

Sports is the most competitive form of physical workout, while it is also meant to earn name and fame, alongside earing a well-recognised livelihood. The primary objective in any sport is to perform and get rewarded for it.While athletes are applauded for their record-breaking performance on the field, some wonder if other factors are taken into consideration, including the players' background. Meanwhile, legendary former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar tends to differ, as he feels that sport is all about the on-field performances, while the other factors are secondary.

"Every time we enter the dressing room, it really didn't matter where you came from, which part of the country and where you belong. It was a level field for everyone. Sport doesn't recognise anything other than your performance on field," Tendulkar was quoted as saying by PTI.

Speaking virtually during the media interaction, he said, "You are out there as an individual who wants to contribute towards the team. That is what we want to do, try and share my experiences. "Continue to chase your dreams, dreams do come true, number of times we push ourselves and we feel it is a dead-end, but it is never dead-end. So, take that extra step and you will achieve your goal," added Tendulkar.

Tendulkar also brought up his father, Ramesh, who also happened to be a professor in Mumbai. "When we talk about accessibility, I remember my father, was also a professor, and he would travel from one end to other end of Mumbai and constantly be busy teaching his students. Today, if he was alive, he would have been really proud of what Unacademy has enabled to do because then not in thousands, but millions had access to him," he concluded.
