Not getting 312km on single charge, Nexon EV owner files complaint against Tata Motors

A Tata Nexon EV owner has come forward with a complaint that his electric vehicle is not getting the range promised by the company.

Tata Nexon EV's launch in India in January 2020 revolutionized the electric vehicle segment in the country. Nexon Electric is regarded as one of the leading electric SUVs in the country. But a Nexon owner has come forward with a complaint that his electric vehicle is not getting the range promised by the company.According to Tata Motors, the Nexon EV can travel up to 312 km on a single charge.According to media reports, the owner has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Transport Department.
The person, who bought the vehicle from a Tata dealership in Delhi, complained that the company was not delivering the promised range.Following the complaint, Tata Motors was reportedly sent a show-cause notice by the Delhi Transport Department and a company representative was asked to appear in person before February 15.According to reports, the customer had complained that the vehicle, which was registered on December 3, 2020, was not getting the promised range.

The owner reportedly complained that he could not travel more than 200 km even when the battery was fully charged. The owner stated in the complaint that he had used the vehicle following all the instructions given by the company officials.Nexon EV will be dropped from the list of electric vehicles subsidized by the Delhi government if a company representative doesn't appear before the Delhi Transport Department before Noon on February 15.
However, Tata Motors said it would take steps to address the issue. According to Tata Motors, the 312-kilometre range is certified by the Automotive Research Association of India.At the same time, the vehicle has had a good response in the market. One year after its launch, it is reported that 3,000 Nexon EVs have hit the market so far. Currently, the vehicle has a market share of 64 per cent (YTD FY 21).The company claims that the powerful and high-performance 129 PS permanent magnet AC motor included in the Nexon EV is equipped with a high-capacity 30.2 kW lithium-ion battery.
The motor maintains 245 Nm of instantaneous torque, which enables the Nexon EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmh in just 9.9 seconds.The battery takes about nine hours to fully charge. However, the company claims that the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in an hour using a fast charger.The Nexon EV is available in three trim levels at 60 authorized dealerships in 22 cities across the country. The vehicle comes in three attractive colour options: Signature Teal Blue, Moonlight Silver and Glacier White.
