A case has been registered against the management of the Malla Reddy Group of Institutions and the event manager following a speaker stand collapse that injured four people at what was widely referred to as Yash’s Toxic Event, the pre-release gathering for actor Yash's upcoming film in Hyderabad on Saturday. Cyberabad Police confirmed the filing of the case after the incident, which saw one person suffer a leg fracture. The complaint specifically targets key stakeholders responsible for the safety and management of the large-scale public event.
The mishap occurred during the highly anticipated promotional event for Yash's upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, held at the Malla Reddy University campus. Thousands of fans had gathered to see the actor and other members of the film's team.
The speaker stand gave way when several fans reportedly climbed onto the flying DJ speaker stand to get a better view of the proceedings. Some attendees were also reportedly performing stunts on the structure, leading it to lose balance and collapse.
Four individuals sustained injuries in the collapse. One student suffered a leg fracture, while the remaining three received minor injuries. All injured individuals were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police officials clarified that there was no stampede during the incident.
Actor Yash, who was on stage addressing the audience, promptly halted his speech upon noticing the commotion. He immediately directed event organizers and security personnel to attend to the injured fans. He also urged other fans attempting to climb on similar structures to prioritize their safety and descend.
Following the incident, Cyberabad Police registered a case against the organizers, specifically targeting the management of the institution and the event manager. This action highlights concerns regarding crowd management and safety protocols at large-scale public events.
Cyberabad Police have initiated legal proceedings, officially registering a case against the organisers of Yash’s Toxic Event. The primary defendants in the case are the management of the Malla Reddy Group of Institutions, which served as the event venue, and the designated event manager. This formal action underscores the serious concerns surrounding the planning, execution, and safety measures implemented for the highly anticipated gathering.
While specific charges have not been fully detailed, police officials indicated that the case pertains to alleged negligence in crowd management and a failure to ensure adequate safety protocols. The incident, where a speaker stand collapsed under the weight of fans, has brought sharp focus on the responsibilities of both event organisers and venue owners when hosting large public assemblies. The authorities will be scrutinising the permits, structural integrity checks, and crowd control strategies that were supposedly in place for 'Yash’s Toxic Event'.
The film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for its worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026. Further details regarding the ongoing investigation into the event mishap are awaited.
