Udta Punjab banned: 5 times CBFC went completely bonkers

Synopsis

When watching animals jump and growl was too much for kids to handle

The Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) examining panel felt that Rudyard Kipling's 'Jungle Book' was 'too scary' to be given a U certificate. Thus, it gave the film a 'U/A' certificate, which means children can watch the movie under adult guidance/supervision.

When James Bond's bedroom exploits were too hot to handle

The CBFC decided to shorten a kissing scene in the Bond flick 'Spectre'. Daniel Craig’s steamy kiss with his co-star Monica Belluci was reduced by 50 percent as the board felt that the length of the kiss was too long for Indian audiences. #SanskariJamesBond started trending on Twitter and soon James was transformed into the 'purified' guy our mothers would want us to marry.

Nudity is allowed but not the word 'naked.'

Mandakini's unthinkable act by getting wet under a waterfall wearing nothing but a transparent white saree was passed, but the use of the word 'naked' in Saif Ali Khan's 'Happy Ending' was frowned upon. 'Naked' had to be deleted from the film.

Drug consumption is more scandalous than a man's pen** turning into gold
Our beloved Censor Board likes to think that watching a man's pen** turn into gold in Kunal Khemu starrer 'Guddu Ki Gun' is somehow less scandalous than adults watching characters consume drugs onscreen.

When CBFC meant just watch, don't listen

Subhash Kapoor's 'Guddu Rangeela' received major chop- chop for using words like "saali", "maal", "lena" and "pakadna". A vigilant CBFC had reasoned that since they were used in a derogatory way with reference to a woman, they could not be used. I wonder why CBFC does not object to the objectification of women (visually) onscreen. So as per CBFC, it's okay to lech at a woman visually, but not okay to listen to a few words?
