Akshay Kumar's film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a satirical comedy inspired by PM Narendra Modi led Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a governmental campaign to improve sanitation conditions in India. The movie features Bhumi Pednekar as the leading lady. The trailer shares the message effectively and with laughs to spare.
The storyline of the movie, as we all know, lays emphasis on the importance of public toilets across the country. In rural India, there are millions of people out there who still defecate and urinate in public, and we need to stop that.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is essentially a love story between Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s characters. In the trailer, we see Akshay (Keshav) tell his father that he wants to be married as soon as possible. Cut to next, he meets his dream girl, Bhumi, and both are soon married. It is the morning after the marriage that Bhumi is rudely introduced to 'lota' gang and that Akshay’s house has no toilet.
Bhumi soon leaves him due to this and Akshay, who is deeply in love with his wife, wants to set an example just like Shah Jahaan but instead of making Taj Mahal, wants to bring in awareness about the risks of defecating in the open and wants to build a toilet at home. And faces problems as villagers think it is wrong to place the toilet in a home that worships Goddess Tulsi.
